Midwest Flowers
The idea for this series was when I was taking some still-life photos of squeaky toys with my iPhone. I noticed, editing a photo I’d taken in Portrait mode, that when I switched to Stage Light most of what wasn’t in the center of the frame was gone, replaced by a dark background. That didn’t work well with the still lifes I was shooting, but I thought it might work for other things. On y walk home that afternoon I took some pictures in Portrait mode of flowers and liked the result. The pandemic had started to explode and everything was shutting down, so it was a perfect time to go for walks around town photographing a season of Midwest flowers.
