Squeaky Toys

This series began with an idea to do some still life photos using carnival chalkware. I had some pieces, and when I started searching for more I quickly realized that probably wasn’t going to work. While there is plenty of chalkware out there, I didn’t find the variety of figures I was hoping for. Also, they are not inexpensive, and costly to ship. About the time I realized that old carnival prizes weren’t going to work out the way I’d hoped, I came across an old squeaky toy and realized that might work better, since they are colorful, in plentiful supply, and not as expensive as carnival chalkware. I bought that first squeaky toy I saw, and since then have purchased another four or five hundred of them, and continue to use them to explore some of the still life themes.
